Theme and designer

How to build the store's look: easy mode, sections, page settings, publishing and versions.

The designer opens from Storefronts › Theme and shows the store live while you edit.

Two modes

  • Easy mode: logo, favicon, colours, fonts, button style, header and footer (columns, newsletter, social icons, payment methods, currency switcher), announcement bar, product cards and the home page blocks.
  • Sections: the home page and custom pages are built from sections (hero, product rows, categories, text and image, newsletter, contact and more) that you can move, hide and configure.

Pages in the designer

Every page has settings for SEO (title, description, image, canonical, indexing), slug, status (public, private) and scheduled publishing. Custom CSS and custom code in <head> can be added per page and are sanitised before use.

Publish and versions

Changes are saved as a draft. Publish creates a version the storefront uses; older versions remain and can be restored. The preview always shows the draft.

What the theme does not control

The checkout, the waiting page after payment and the order confirmation use BunStack's own checkout frame: the same calm layout in every storefront, with your logo and accent colour. That is deliberate, the same way every Shopify store has the same checkout. See The checkout as the customer sees it.

Fonts

The font pairs in easy mode (for example Barlow Condensed + News Cycle for sport, Oswald + Inter, Sectra + Inter) are loaded from Google Fonts on the storefront automatically, so the choice shows up for customers right away. Fonts from Adobe Fonts or your own server go in as a <link> line under the page's Head HTML; for Adobe Fonts the storefront's domain must be added to the kit.

Under Headings you choose whether headings are written as normal text or in UPPERCASE. The Center Court preset (white canvas, black type, one red buy button, condensed uppercase headings) is built for sport and equipment shops.

Image banner and categories

The Image banner section has Text align (centered, or left with a dark fade from the left) and Height (medium, large, extra large) for the home page hero. The Categories section shows top-level categories as image tiles as soon as the category has a picture; without one the name is shown in a frame.

A theme for one customer

A starter can be locked to one customer: it then only shows for that customer's account under Storefronts › Theme › Start from a starter. Wood House has the Yasaka starter, a copy of their current website (header with logo, full-width hero image, news row, category tiles, 50/50 block, Team section and black footer) on top of BunStack's checkout and search. Pick the starter, check the home page in the designer and publish.

New settings the copy uses: Width on Image banner (page width or full width), Categories (slugs) on the Categories section to pick and order the tiles, "View all" on Product grid, plus theme tokens for header and footer colours, logo height and theme CSS. The product page shows a Details table when the product has attributes (after migration 00152).

The footer can show a brand column (Easy mode › Footer › Brand column): the footer logo, a short description and a copyright line, taken from the theme's brand fields. Category pages use the theme's collection page template, so product cards look the same as on the home page.
