Storefronts
Accessibility and product safety
What the storefront does for accessibility, how it is tested against WCAG 2.1 AA, what you answer for and product safety under GPSR.
Where: The accessibility statement is under Storefronts › [storefront] › Pages. You fill in product safety under Products › ⋯ › Vendors.
What the storefront does
BunStack tests the storefront's pages against WCAG 2.1 A and AA with the axe tool on every change to the platform. The test runs on an example storefront and does not measure contrast. It covers the home, category, product and cart pages, /orders, the return form and the withdrawal pages.
| Part | What the storefront does |
|---|---|
| Skip to content | A link at the top of every page skips past the menu. It is also in the checkout and on the order, return and withdrawal pages |
| Landmarks | The header and the footer's columns are landmarks a screen reader lists. In the Icons + panel layout the menu button is a landmark of its own |
| Language | The page's language follows the storefront's language. Text in both Swedish and English, for example the withdrawal function's headings, is marked with its language |
| Forms | An error in the order lookup, the withdrawal forms or the return form marks the field and moves focus there. The next step in a form moves focus to its heading |
| Images | Images uploaded in the admin have a width and height. The page does not jump when they load |
What you are responsible for
| Part | Do this |
|---|---|
| Alt texts | Describe every image. See The media library |
| Headings | Give every page a heading. The publish dialog warns when a heading is missing |
| Your own components | Use headings, buttons and alt in your HTML. See Template reference |
| Contrast | Choose theme colours with a contrast of at least 4.5:1 between text and background, and at least 3:1 for large text (WCAG 2.1 AA) |
Kustom's payment window in the checkout is Kustom's responsibility.
Accessibility statement
The Swedish act (2023:254) on the accessibility of certain products and services covers online shops. A business that is not a micro-enterprise must publish information about its accessibility. The accessibility page (Tillgänglighetsinformation) is the template for that information. It describes how the storefront meets the requirements, known shortcomings and how the customer reaches you.
- Open Storefronts › [storefront] › Pages.
- Open the accessibility page.
- Fill in the details and remove the line UTKAST — granskas av jurist innan publicering.
- Have a lawyer review the text.
- Leave Show link in footer ticked.
- Choose Live and press Save.
Go live warns under Accessibility statement when the storefront sells to consumers and the page is not ready. Not ready means missing, a draft, still with a marker, the draft line or a placeholder, or not linked in the footer. The warning does not stop go-live. A micro-enterprise has fewer than 10 employees and at most EUR 2 million in annual turnover.
When the storefront lacks the page, use Add missing legal pages in the ⋯ menu. See Pages and legal texts.
Product safety (GPSR)
The EU General Product Safety Regulation (2023/988) requires a product sold online to state the manufacturer. For a manufacturer outside the EU, it must also state the responsible person in the EU.
The product page shows the details under the heading "Produktsäkerhet" ("Product safety" in an English storefront), below the description. The details belong to the vendor. You fill them in once per vendor. The fields and badges are under Vendors and product safety.
Go live warns under Product safety (GPSR) when the storefront sells to consumers and a visible, active product has no vendor or no complete manufacturer details. The warning does not stop go-live.
Decide with your lawyer who the responsible person is and whether you count as the manufacturer of your own goods. BunStack shows what you fill in.
