Pricing rules

Lower the price in a storefront with a rule: percent or amount, on the whole storefront or one product, with a start and an end.

A pricing rule lowers the price in a storefront without a code. Here you create rules and pause or delete them.

Where: Storefronts › [storefront] › Pricing rules, the Markdown rules card.

Create a rule

  1. Open Storefronts › [storefront] › Pricing rules.
  2. Fill in Name under New markdown.
  3. Choose Applies to: Whole storefront or One product.
  4. Choose the product under Product if the rule is for one product. The list shows the products in the storefront.
  5. Fill in Discount and choose % or the base currency.
  6. Fill in Starts (optional) and Ends (optional) if the rule should have a window.
  7. Press Add markdown rule.

The rule applies at once if it has no start.

The list

The card's heading counts active rules. Each row shows the rule, Applies to, discount, window and status.

  • The stamp ACTIVE or PAUSED switches state when you press it.
  • Delete asks Delete “Rule name”? The rule stops applying at once. You cannot undo it.

How the price is worked out

  • The rule starts from the price the storefront would otherwise show, see Products in the storefronts.
  • If several rules hit the same product, the lowest price applies. Rules do not stack.
  • The rule lowers a fixed price in another currency by the same share as the price in the base currency.
  • The checkout recalculates the price on the server before Kustom gets the order.
  • A discount code applies to the price after the rule, see Discount codes. A code with Not on reduced items does not apply to items a rule has lowered.

What the customer sees

The rule applies in the catalogue, on the product page, in the cart and in the checkout. The product shows as reduced. The struck-through price is the lowest price in the 30 days before the rule started. If the price history does not cover those 30 days, only the new price shows, see Lowest price before a reduction.
